here is a wire cross ref size chart,,

I have a set of calipers that measure inside diameters and for my 1.6QRs I just measured .153 holes size,, the above charts says 6 gauge is .162, so a light sanding would accommodate the fit,, 8 gauge is .128 would offer a nice close fit,,
