What an interesting project. I'll be curious to know how it comes out. I assume you're going to wire some sections in series to bring the impedance back up? Also, I'd think you'd want to keep the mass of the woofer wire the same, to avoid moving the resonance point. I assume that would happen automatically if the foil had the same resistivity as the aluminum wire (though did the 1D have copper wire in the woofers?).
What are you planning to do about the Miloxane? It looks to me like they leave it off on the QR tweeters, not sure if they use it on the QR woofer of the 1.7 but I wouldn't be surprised if they do since it supplies damping and, I assume, some mass.
