When it comes to flat style speakers, many of the design compromises in cheaper products can be overcome simply by spending more money.More money buys bigger panels, which does justice to a wider variety of music. This is seen in the flagship models of several product lines. The cheaper models with smaller panels and reduced bass output, the flagships with larger panels and better bass extension.
When spending up to $60,000, I can easily understand how other products would be favored over Magnepan. The most obvious reason being, Magnepan does not have a product offering in that price bracket. Lol.
Since you are familiar with contemporary music, what do you do when you have an album that is lean, bright, no mids no bass? Is that a problem on Magneplanars? How about some female pop vocals, where the microphone choice only accentuates an overly screechy voice? Bad choice for Magneplanars, even with tweeter resistor?
