Simple :-)) ...

MG-2.7/QR:
A 3-way, having a tweeter made of the 'QR' ribbon instead of the "true ribbon" in the other models you mentioned. Because of this, some people prefer it to the IIIa/3.X series - others say it doesn't deliver the top-end extension of the true ribbon.

The mulleted midget has a pair of 2.7s and thinks they are the greatest thing since button-up boots were invented. :-))

MG-2.6/R:
A 2-way having a true ribbon which is about 2/3rds the length of the ribbon in a IIIa/3.X series. The 2.5 is very similar.

The bass panel is as big as that in the IIIa/3.3/3.5 - so it will deliver good bass. People who have these speakers love them (and there don't seem to be many around). IMO, having the true ribbon and a big bass panel, they should sound better than any other 2-way Maggie ... but probably lack some mid-range energy that the 3-ways provide.

MG-3.3/R & MG-llla:
Very similar speakers - with 2 differences:
* the ribbon on the 3.3 is the same (narrower) ribbon that the 3.6 has - so probably delivers more extended highs than the IIIa ribbon.
* the 3.3 XO implements some different slopes than the IIIa.

They need a far more powerful amp than the 2.5s/2.6s.

Regards,

Andy
