Yes, the subwoofer has a current overload and the fuse is doing it's job protecting it. You need to open it up to inspect for overheated/burnt electrical components, swelled electrolytic caps or poor solder connections. No silver bullet to fix it, just good old fashioned troubleshooting.

  The good news is if you decide to use a non-local repair service, you can simply remove the plate amplifier and ship it to the shop.
  
  Otherwise, a very expensive 2-way delivery fee would not make the repair job cost-effective, and purchasing a new subwoofer might be a better option to consider.

      Another option might be the purchase of a replacement plate amplifier, perhaps travel on an upgrade path by choosing a better product to install that will fit into the opening. The cost of 2-way shipping and an unknown repair bill could be weighed against the cost of a new plate amplifier.

        Indeed, but if it's a sealed sub, there is often some kind of EQ / lowest frequencies boost that takes place inside the amp. So fitting a different amp might not work OR you need to choose a new amp with parametrable EQ (there are some).

        Good point, KanedaK. A servo based sub is also an issue. Plenty of research is needed about compatibility, including advice from reputable sellers.

        Great information.....I didn't even know that plate amps were available. I sent mine back to the manufacturer, and it cost more than these amplifiers.
