From my testing, which was done pretty casually but in a very resolving system, I found the Dale RN to be neutral, with a slight roll-off of the very top end but good image depth and air. The Takman's did not make much of an impression, which is probably good. The REY's I recall being detailed but slightly bright, while the REX's were a just bit dull and recessed. Neither was offensively bad. Unless you're using a bunch of them in a circuit, the difference is merely a modest tone control. I ended up using the RN because I thought they did midrange the best. They are non-magnetic.

Some Dales are magnetic and some aren't. It's a bit confusing. There are CMF that are billed as non magnetic and it a pretty reasonable assumption that if the model doesn't say it's non magnetic then it probably isn't non magnetic. Not only that but some of the non magnetic CMF's have brass end caps and some have nickel silver end caps. Two different animals withing the same model. T456 Edit: It doesn't appear that it is a reasonable assumption that if it doesn't say it's not magnetic that it's not magnetic. It may be that most Dale CMF and RN are not magnetic except some that were made around 2008 with steel end caps. Very old RN Dales I have are not magnetic. Would think that Vishay Dale would say non magnetic if they weren't.

One can assume then, from other readings, that you would say the Shinkoh tants are (much) better than the Takman CF and MF? They should be at over 6 times the price. At least they are not $15 each. Not a fan of bright but dull and recessed don't sound too good either. As I said before a certain Corning bested the Dales but now it looks like some Dale are magnetic, with steel ends?? As always it looks like I have to ab a couple. Back in the day I was better set up to test resistors at some point. It will be more work and rougher on the circuit board now. Sonic Craft bill the Takman MF as a touch warm, not bright?? T456
