Any detailed opinion on this? I used to use Dales back in the old days when I did most of my tweaking but the Takman's are new to me. The Dales are solid good but there was a Corning that beat it but don't know which one and they would be hard to get. The Dales beat a number of famous resistors, IMO. The Takman "should" be better since they are made with audio in mind but the Dales still get lots of respect. I wonder if they are made the exact same way as 20 years ago? T456

Follow Ups:
From my testing, which was done pretty casually but in a very resolving system, I found the Dale RN to be neutral, with a slight roll-off of the very top end but good image depth and air. The Takman's did not make much of an impression, which is probably good. The REY's I recall being detailed but slightly bright, while the REX's were a just bit dull and recessed. Neither was offensively bad. Unless you're using a bunch of them in a circuit, the difference is merely a modest tone control. I ended up using the RN because I thought they did midrange the best. They are non-magnetic.

Some Dales are magnetic and some aren't. It's a bit confusing. There are CMF that are billed as non magnetic and it a pretty reasonable assumption that if the model doesn't say it's non magnetic then it probably isn't non magnetic. Not only that but some of the non magnetic CMF's have brass end caps and some have nickel silver end caps. Two different animals withing the same model. T456 Edit: It doesn't appear that it is a reasonable assumption that if it doesn't say it's not magnetic that it's not magnetic. It may be that most Dale CMF and RN are not magnetic except some that were made around 2008 with steel end caps. Very old RN Dales I have are not magnetic. Would think that Vishay Dale would say non magnetic if they weren't.

One can assume then, from other readings, that you would say the Shinkoh tants are (much) better than the Takman CF and MF? They should be at over 6 times the price. At least they are not $15 each. Not a fan of bright but dull and recessed don't sound too good either. As I said before a certain Corning bested the Dales but now it looks like some Dale are magnetic, with steel ends?? As always it looks like I have to ab a couple. Back in the day I was better set up to test resistors at some point. It will be more work and rougher on the circuit board now. Sonic Craft bill the Takman MF as a touch warm, not bright?? T456

A 1999 post by Jon Risch says Dale went to steel end caps and ruined the sound??

I tried a broad range of the higher end resistors. I found that the Holco's did not affect the signal at all and were very transparent. In the PS circuit, it may no difference in brand used in my opinion.
They used to have non-magnetic endcaps and sounded great. Then, they went with steel because they were somewhat fragile when bending leads and they became average. Use a magnet on them and you can pick them up.
I have had a few failures using Holco as plate resistor, for example, even when the wattage rating was well in excess of the actual power dissipation in the circuit. This has been noted by others, as well, years ago. No Holco's for me.
You could be correct. My extensive listening tests are 15 years old. If you are correct, that is too bad because I was sold on them.
Some time ago I got some Holcos from Percy and they were not to my liking, to say the least. My guess they were the magnetic ones?? Dales beat every MF I listened to besides the Corning. If I knew which Corning it was and if I could get them I would. I just remember them being either green or blue, probably blue. So, it comes down to Dale vs Takman. Both are liked a lot. I'm not jumping up and down at the idea of using Dales because the Cornings were superior and I still remember that and don't want to go backwards. It's not as easy to test resistors as it was a long time ago when we were set up for it. T456
