You should not use sharp points on a tile floor. Herbie's Audio Lab sells nice coupling discs to place between tips of cones/spikes and tile/hardwood flooring.
Follow Ups:
I understand the damage the brass footers can cause having direct contact with the tile. I'm just curious if the coupling discs would negate the benefits of the brass footers. Would there be a slight degradation in sound quality using the coupling discs? How about the radius footers? Would they offer better sound quality on their own rather than using the mega or heavy feet with coupling discs?
While it does seem counterintuitive to position anything between the tip of a cone/spike and a surface that a rack or stand is placed upon, a coupling disc can actually provide better sonics if it is designed well. The whole point (no pun untended) of a cone/spike tip is to use the load to stabilize a device upon extremely concentrated areas of a surface, and to effectively create a "virtual fulcrum point" that extends below the actual surface on which the tips are placed upon. This is the aspect that provides optimized coupling rather than an ineffective flat post or rod that simply rests on top of a hard surface, which is a very poor coupling action for audio purposes, and some hard surfaces do not transfer energy very well, so the coupling action can also be inferior as a result. Using a coupling disc can provide a very hard surface for the tip to rest upon, while the structure of the coupling disc can be optimized to transfer energy onto a less than optimum surface.
Herbie's Audio Lab offers many different options to consider, including slippery gliders, and coupling discs with various levels of vibration absorption and soundwave energy blockage, so I suggest asking Steve about what coupling disc product he would recommend for your particular application.

Duster,
Great answer!
In fact, I do have some of Herbies gliders underneath my speakers.
I will call him next week and see what he recommends.
Actually I was looking at Herbie's stuff a few minutes ago. I may go that route.
Thanks.
Well alternatively maybe a Copper one cent piece under each spike?
The Copper(Alloy?) may aid mechanical grounding /etc of the point fulcrum.
I use this under my Mapleshade blocks --work very well I feel
Good Luck,
Des
Des....the spike will easily penetrate the coin and then the floor. Many companies make brass cups to put the points into. ....to prevent damage.
Eh? penetrate the coin--sheesh--never had that--ah well possible I suppose with the lbs per square inch factor /etc.
Interesting must experiment that one!
