In Reply to: RE: Carbon fibre faceplate replacements for Oyaide WPC-Z? posted by SgreenP@MSN.com on April 27, 2014 at 17:00:24
Yes, searching the Home Depot site right now! There are some possibilities but I wondered whether nylon or polycarbonate covers would deliver the damping qualities of carbon fiber. I guess I'll give some a try but they will need to be cut to fit.

I suggest that you contact the Oyaide distributor and ask if they can order some replacements. It's important to understand that the carbon fiber faceplate is not just for vibration control, it's also very much intended to dissipate electric fields caused by the AC outlet termination points. If all else fails, you may be able to trim a non-magnetic stainless steel faceplate to fit as a safety replacement (the Cooper brand product is non-magnetic).

Thanks for the info. Duster - I was hoping you might have some good advice. I've ordered a couple of cheapo faceplates that I could potentially trim to fit as DIY replacements. In the meantime, I've emailed the Lotus group about the possibility of getting replacements. I'll let you know what I learn.
I recommend that you ask for a replacement faceplate screw (or two) while you are at it. The particular thread size for an Oyaide AC outlet seems to be impossible to find, even from the best hardware stores in the USA.

Presumably some idiosyncratic Japanese metric specification? I inquired about replacements & they are going to get back to me.
Thanks again for your help.
Please report your findings.

Will do. Thus far the response was that they'd inquire & get back to me - or, more accurately, I should get back to them - in a couple of weeks.
