I have a couple of Oyaide WPC-Z aluminum receptacles for Oyaide wall sockets. Unfortunately, the carbon fiber faceplates have been lost in the course of a recent move. I wondered if anyone had a suggestion for a replacement or DIY alternative?
I realize I could simply purchase new Oyaide WPC-Z sets but that seems wasteful - not to mention expensive - given that I still have the aluminum receptacles & screws etc. I'm just missing the faceplates.

This company, Kyle Switch Plates, has any size and oversize receptacle covers in most materials and finishes (except carbon fiber). I am using their stainless steel (being non-magnetic) oversized outlet covers (3 1/2" x 5 1/2") @ $4.95 each for all my dedicated outlets.
Although they are not standard size, I have some real carbon fiber outlet plates for sale on this site for a steal!
Could make a nice project with little investment.
Good Luck.
Brainerd Liberty Model 126453 is very close to the sound of the more expensive models...
Thanks RadioWonder. I turned up that thread in my search. Unfortunately, a search of Brainerd's site, Amazon, Home Depot & Lowe's, seems to suggest that this model has been discontinued.
You should be able to get the Brainerd 126453. I'm very impressed with it. Recommended by Duster.
It's still available, but it's nowhere near as good as your Oyaide WPC-Z, and not of any use for your situation.

Hi Duster,
Maybe not as good as the Oyaide, but maybe good enough for me! I really like the looks to at worst, I will have a very reasonably priced, cool looking wall plate. I will also be interested to read what you results are with the aluminum wall plates. They also look very cool!

I have elCheapo plastic covers from Home Depot that I use with my fancy outlets. They don't interact with the receptacle, have no sound of their own (no metal) and I am happy with them.
Yes, searching the Home Depot site right now! There are some possibilities but I wondered whether nylon or polycarbonate covers would deliver the damping qualities of carbon fiber. I guess I'll give some a try but they will need to be cut to fit.

I suggest that you contact the Oyaide distributor and ask if they can order some replacements. It's important to understand that the carbon fiber faceplate is not just for vibration control, it's also very much intended to dissipate electric fields caused by the AC outlet termination points. If all else fails, you may be able to trim a non-magnetic stainless steel faceplate to fit as a safety replacement (the Cooper brand product is non-magnetic).

Thanks for the info. Duster - I was hoping you might have some good advice. I've ordered a couple of cheapo faceplates that I could potentially trim to fit as DIY replacements. In the meantime, I've emailed the Lotus group about the possibility of getting replacements. I'll let you know what I learn.
I recommend that you ask for a replacement faceplate screw (or two) while you are at it. The particular thread size for an Oyaide AC outlet seems to be impossible to find, even from the best hardware stores in the USA.

Presumably some idiosyncratic Japanese metric specification? I inquired about replacements & they are going to get back to me.
Thanks again for your help.
Please report your findings.

Will do. Thus far the response was that they'd inquire & get back to me - or, more accurately, I should get back to them - in a couple of weeks.
