Recently I fell for a posting (http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/vt.mpl?f=tweaks&m=167621) that was made here on a $10 (with shipping1) degausser from China. I had already placed my order on Dealexreme when I realized it said 220volt! Shit. Oh well, WTF it's only ten bucks. Yesterday the thing arrived and it had what looked like a (sub)standard 110volt plug on it. I was afraid to plug it in, thinking it might blow up in my hand or pop the breaker, or both. I summoned up some curiosity fueled courage and plugged it in. Hmmm, nothing happened. I pushed the button on the devise and it made a noise that I assumed was it doing it's thing. Hmmm. Next I summoned up the courage again to try it on a cd and I zapped the cd after listening to it. I thought I detected a slight change in the sound. Hmmm, must be placebo effect. I then tried a few listen tests and damned if I didn't hear a difference, that being of a veil being lifted, to use a cliche ridden term. This veil lifting was not discernable on all cd's, but for example on Gladiator there is ambient sound mixed with middle eastern instruments, percussion, etc. I noticed the wind instrument sounded more pronounced (not harsh) with a more relaxed presentation, with more presence. Hmmm. Must be placebo effect, OR this thing actually works.
The bottom line for any of you that may be remotely interested is that yes, this thing did lift a veil or two, and no it was not obviously discernable on everything, but damned if it doesn't work. This morning I looked up some reviews on the Furutech demagnetizer for lp and cd's and damned if they didn't echo some of the results I was hearing. To date I have not tried enough lp's to give a recommendation.
For the record I am not affiliated with the orignal poster whose comments seemed like he was representing the company. All I can say is, it's ten bucks. The Furutech is $1800. If this thing does a quarter of what the Furutech does and I can hear a difference, then WTF?
Your mileage will undoubtedly vary and for you naysayers out there, kindly keep your traps shut until you actually try a product, THEN rant or rave. Happy listening

and see if it works even better.
I got one, too, but haven't used it yet.
I have a transformer laying about and will connect it all together next week.
Hi, I'm not sure even how to use a step up transformer. Is that the same as a 220/110 converter? I am confused because this product comes with a 110 volt style US plug. Let me know what you hear, thanks!
I started using it yesterday afternoon, as is.
Yesterday was a cold dry day. When I took a record off of the platter there would be snaps and pops. If I used this thing before playback this would not happen.
I think I did get a quieter background after using it, simply from removing the charge, I would guess.
Whether there is more to it than the static electricity elimination I do not know, but that is enough to justify use. An AC powered ZEROSTAT?
I have to spend the $$ on the device before I can inquire how a previous magnetic field affects Optical or Mechanical reproduction methods? Or do you simply not know how CD players or Record players work?
That is a question to ask yourself. Ask why would it be that these devices work on CD's and DVD's. The fact it that there is more going on than optically reading 1's and 0's.
My Bedini works great, though a superficial engineering analysis says it should do nothing. Two hardcore non-believers were shocked to have to admit that the Bedini works after hearing it, even though they didn't believe it. I will say that as my pre-DAC system has improved, the effects of the Bedini have been less.
Logic and engineering will usually say that a power cord can't make any difference as well. Then the University of Toronto found measurable differences in a Virtual Dynamics power cord.
Art is usually ahead of the science behind it.
Hi Ron,
I am not suggesting that you have to buy anything, and I am definitely NOT the person to ask about how or why it works. For that information I suggest looking up reviews on the slightly more expensive Furutech devise, where they attempt to explain what it does. I'm merely suggesting that for ten bucks, or perhaps wait for others that have tried this Chinese piece of--whatever it is, and if someone out there is willing to risk the 10 bucks to confirm or deny what I am hearing, then this is what this forum is all about. Again, I am not affiliated with anybody, and in my book IF this item comes close to an $1800 product then that should be where the finger is pointed, not at why or how it worked. Now, if there is anybody that has a Furutech or other type devise that they could compare with, I'd love to hear the comparison. But, if I had spent big bucks and they WERE similar I probably wouldn't want to post here. For the record, I also have some DIY Hallographs that cost me about 15 bucks to make, (and many hours of labor). I don't know why or how they work, technically speaking, but it really doesn't matter to me if me ears tell me otherwise. Trust your ears first, and someone else's second.
