All tonearms are engineered to maximize stability and minimize vibration. Nothing unique there. Measurements are great if they correlate with the listening experience. Sometimes they do but more often they do not. It may be that the SME has the best specs (i have no idea if this is true) but it can only be the best if you think that the specs are more important than how it sounds.

From an engineering perspective not having the ability to adjust azimuth is a serious shortcoming. While it is a necessary compromise for inexpensive tonearms I consider it a mandatory feature for top models. In my experience proper setting of azimuth is at least as important as VTA. A tonearm that does not let you fine tune this parameter will not allow the cartridge to deliver it's full potential.

I have heard Schroder tonearms in side by side comparisons with other top tonearms. I find them to be in a class of their own.
