The Technics SL 'Tables do have a somewhat unique version of Stevenson's theories on cartridge alignment.
I did notice, when setup with the Technics overhang gauge that the result was very similar to Feikert's Stevenson calibration. Not exact, but quite close.
The Null points though were WAAAAY off even on Stevenson's alignment marks.
I have learned that technics says to set the overhang with their jig and then align the front of the cartridge completely straight in the headshell. They provide a VTA chart bassed on the physical height of your cartridge. And provide 'table leveling via adjustable legs.
That's what I'm doing and it does sound very good indeed. So, I'm not going to sweat it. I have seen photos of Technics SL specific protractors, but that doesn't seem necessary. I've gone back and resetup each of my three headshell/cartridges and enjoying the ability to change carts every day if the mood strikes.
Though my Audio Techica AT155LC MM cartridge from 1985 is putting all my expensive MC carts to shame - WOW!
