Low mass/high rigidity tends to keep a "fast" sound, while isolation methods can effect things like imaging, transparency, frequency response, etc. Just like some audio gear that sounds good to others sounds bad to you...it's all about taste, I guess.

Could be. But then again, tubes and vinyl don't live up to the hype for some people :)
