Higher oversample rates do *not* reduce the ringing times of a digital filter. There are merely more interpolation points (or "taps"), but sonically, there should be hardly any impact. (Had there been a general correlation to oversample rate and sonics, everything out there now would be at least 256x oversampled...)The ART DI/O uses an extremely high oversample rate, but I do not think this is why it sounds better. If anything, had they selected a more-mundane oversample algorithm, all else being equal, the lowered RFI may have resulted in an even better DAC. I personally think the DI/O sounds great because I think the DAC chips are run at the low end of their power requirements, hence cutting down the the RFI generation.
