Yes Daniel, but not only that. CD's ability to play a sinewave is not beyond the question. At 20kHz actualy we don't have a sinewaves writen in the discs. Even pure sinewaves should be recostructed.And even pure sinewaves are reconstructed.
Might I recommend you pick up a copy of Ken C. Pohlmann's Principles of Digital Audio? I think you're approaching this with some rather fundamental misconceptions about digital.
