Hello
I had a problem with the brightness of my system too. I thought that the problem is in my cd-player (JVC z-574). I was wondering if the problem is in my amp too (QUAD 405). The problem now is gone and I hadn't changed my cd neither amp. I wasn't thinking that the problem might be cured with thing as changing interconnects and speaker cable. I used several speaker cables: first thin, after that thick, and after all CAT5 lan cable and the sound was becoming better defined but the brightness never gone away. FOr last before a week or two I just changed the configuration of the wires in my CAT5 cable to reduce the inductance of it. Listening to my system after that slight change I found that the brightness of my system finally gone away.
I write that thing not to tell you that the brightness of audio system can be removed with changing the speaker wire but to tell you that the cure for a problem in an audio system can be found in thing that seems to have no partisipation in the problem at all. I wish you'll find solution too.
