Dedicated AC Lines: Need Help Explaining To Electrician

63.42.155.124

We're building a house, and I'm getting three dedicated 20-amp AC lines with isolated ground outlets for my listening room. From what I've researched, 10-gauge solid copper is the choice for for the power lines, run through grounded metal conduit.

The electrician is a kindly old German gentleman who is incredulous at my wish for 10 gauge wire, and I quote: "Vat kindoff machinery are you goink to be runnink in your liffing room?"

Other than "It sounds better" or "Because it's what I want", does anyone have a suggested way for me to explain it? (I'm no electrician or engineer either, and I'm going strictly on what I've read or researched.)

I'm meeting him at the site on Tuesday morning, so quick answers are appreciated.

Thanks.
