Im not having a problem with the room not loading the driver. It plays flat in such a large volume. 140dB peaks just arent realistic in my home. Drywall and 10 feet of space between homes just doesn't allow for it.
As for the Behringer... I dont need an EQ to correct for room anomalies. At our couch (normal seating position) it maesures very well, and sounds incredible. Ive never been a fan of equalization. I have always tweeked the crossovers to compensate for the room and listening position. I like to keep the siganl path as simple and connection free as possible.
I am not building "compromised" equipment, but "tailored" equipment to my unchangeable environment and constraints. Im stuck with a specific room and my own paradigms of "less is better" within the signal chain and hardware. I design around this and end up with a nice system.
Cables? Ive maybe maxed out at $50 for all of them.
The term "audiophile" has taken on the conotation of a fat ham glazed in snake oil. An acceptable collection of names and components that just so happens to make an acceptable sounding system. It appears that you are outside that realm (as corner horns and most things high efficiency arent "cool") but I dont think that everything outside of your system IS a compromise.Scott
