Yes, there is a big difference. Look at the info on the SM parts. See how much better the tiny 0201 part performs at high frequencies compared to the 0402 or 0603? A 1/4 watt leaded part is is at least 12 times longer, 10 times the width, and then you add lead inductance. Yes, there is a big difference. That said, a 1/4 watt leaded part will still be fine up to at least 100MHz. Not a concern for audio.
