Well apparently - I can't be sure yet after just two days - I managed to cure the issue just by placing two 39pF ceramic caps across the input RCA sockets, between hot and ground. Given that noise problem was intermittent but appearing every single day ever since I bought that crossover and I'm now 48 hours (with me being home pretty much non stop) noise free I have good hopes it's gone forever - fingers crossed.
The "problem" with the TDM crossover is that the signal goes through an awful lot of op-amps and capacitors, and even tho I upgraded all parts with "audiophile quality" parts and replaced lytic caps everywhere possible with film caps, there's still too many of those for ultimate transparency in an audiophile setup. still I would say for a PA device it is very good sounding, and I've never experienced noise from mine even tho I use horns and the device must be 20 years old and isn't so fresh (you can feel the transformer vibrating when you touch the enclosure; fear of sudden failure is the second reason why I bought this new crossover).
The beauty of this little Chinese device is the simplicity of layout, limited number of op-amps, very short signal path, and enough space around components to allow tweaking. Bare minimum number of active stages. No interstage coupling caps. Etc. But it's also that minimalist approach that makes it more sensitive to RFI than the full symmetric, multi-stage TDM unit IMHO.
In theory I guess I could remove the input caps but having them there gives me peace of mind; plus I actually enjoy comparing different capacitors and I enjoy the "color" some give to the sound. It's like salt and pepper.
