RE: Speaker Gasket Material

Try some RTV in the tube.
Lay a bead where the speaker goes, let it sit for a couple hours, than carefully place and secure the speaker. The stuff will compress /goosh and seal.
If you get the 'good stuff', the bad smell is acetic acid. Let it setup before placing parts.
It won't take much.
Too much is never enough
