I don't have experience with the speakers you have but since I have redone my Altec valencia's I've been using teflon coated, silver tinned, copper inside. 12 gage for the lower frequency and 14 or 16 for the upper. I found silver coated copper (16 ga.) in my Altec and JBL speakers originally so I use it in all, large Advents, AR9's, KLH 17, JBL L200 among others.
No scientific basis in it and I couldn't tell you if the wire made a difference as these were at least crossover if not complete rebuilds.
I do know with the tinned copper, oxidation won't be a problem for a long long time.
Jim McShane had some wire that is reasonable.
