RE: Room Acoustics newbie, hoping for some help from the pros! :)

wolfordc,

The GIK products look OK to me, and they would probably help out your acoustics, perhaps even a lot. It is quite stunning to go from a minimal amount of acoustic treatment to something significant in terms of absorbing stray sound.

However, note that the Tri-traps are not cheap, and that the DIY Super Quick & Dirty traps are a time tested and proven solution, that is yours for the cost of 4-6 rolls of building grade fiberglass and roll of speaker grille cloth (or for even less, a couple of yards of double-knit poly cloth at a fabric store instead of a whole roll of official speaker grille cloth).

See:
the original post where I reveal the latest Super Quick & Dirty easy bass traps recipe:

While these won't tuck neatly into the corner, they are very cost effective.

The GIK 244 panels look like a more cost effective product than the Tri-Traps, but you can also build your own panels as well.

If the DIY aspect is not your bag, then assembled finished products like the GIK are a next best option. Just don't overlook the shipping charges, you need to be aware of the total cost to get them into your living space.

Finally, after looking at your room set-up, I recommend reading this note:

about 1/2 way down where the numbered points start.

David Aiken has the gist of it, make sure your basic set-up is balanced and as symmetrical as possible, and the speakers are equidistant from your chair, etc.

Good luck!
