Parallel wired interconnect, but short - susceptible to RFI?

At the moment I have spiralled ICs ala CVH design. They're a little short (30cm) and I've read somewhere on Audiogon that parallel wires sound better than spiralled, especially if they are spaced apart the right amount (15mm or so - wider than your average connector). I've thought of a rather ingenious way of building these but was wondering what sort of detrimental effect not having any sort of shielding, spiralling or otherwise, would have on 40cm of wire. Is this too short for RFI to have any effect, especially given that the nearest other cable is several inches away? They'll also be made out of gold which I read somewhere had some sort of lower susceptibility to RFI, but that could easily be BS. Are there other things I may have overlooked?
