It is...but I get a lot of emails from folks that are scared to open anything up....this tweak is for them.
You guys know me....I mount these things right on top of the component and solder the leads across the ac board on the inside. The closer the choke is to the power supply the better it sounds....so compared to the 4 foot cable the adapter offers better sound based on location and length of wire.
I mounted and hard wired a 193L on my daughters Oppo dvi player last year...the video quality is now off the charts (mirrors my HTPC), and the sound (used as a transport) is now similar to my Lavry rig. I would say the video is at least 50% better with the choke hard wired compared to plugged in at the wall.
