RE: Hammond Choke Tweak For Components

Hard wiring is the ideal connection, but not everyone is comfortable ripping the cable open or drilling holes in the chassis to mount the choke. This offers a cheap alternative, especially if you are looking at installing parallel filters close to the component. The quality of the iec connection is no different than what you see with the 320iec to C7/C8 adapters. I haven't experience any loss in sound quality using the jumper...the choke is strong enough to make the connection disappear.

I have no idea...I do not use the speaker filters/nor have I built them. I mentioned the TI Shield because it was something I used in the past and happen to like. I use it for shielding and damping plates when combined with 1/4" microsorb. TI Shield offers superior frequency bandwidth and noise reduction compared to copper. But in all honesty, I think you are making too much of an issue out of the shielding. It's the earth ground that is important...not the shielding material in this application. TI Shield should be used in a single layer.
