There are many CD players outt here with large coupling caps, usually 100 uF electrolytics. Using a way oversized electrlytic does tend to reduce the deleterious sonic effects a bit (especially if it is bypassed), but in other cases, the large value is needed to assure flat and tight bass due to output loading Z.Not to say that local PS decoupling caps are not important, but their effet IS reduced compared to a cap the signal actually physically passes through. PS decouplig caps are isolated via the PSRR of the chips, and while this may not be much at HF's, it is usually quite a bit in the audio band.
I would not put local PS caps in the same league as shunt caps in a Xover, in terms of their effect on sonics.
