I must agree with you, Glen. Radio Shack has been a help many-a-time for sudden need sorts of things like those you mentioned -- connectors, resistors, solder, small stuff that a regular hardware store wouldn't usually carry in the electronics department (often under a canopy of whirring ceiling fans!). And though sales people in stores can be a pain in the butt sometimes, I must admit I would feel just a bit huffy if customers completely ignored me after I offered some assistance. I now take the other approach -- go in and ASK for some help. I promise you will get better service and a more enjoyable "shopping experience" if a little politenss is exercised. Give those guys or gals a break and let them at least FEEL like their being helpful and knowledgeable about something -- many really know what they're talking about and where the things you need are located.
