The arm that picks up the CD is actually lifted by a grooved barrel that turns. I think either a sensor that tells it to stop turning is dirty or ??? It works sometimes, so I don't think whatever is wrong with it is "fried". I've opened her up twice now, and I can't see anything obviously faulty. I've re-spread the grease that was in the groove, and looked for said-sensor (that may or not exist!) and did not have much success... I just don't know that I want to spend much time working on it too. I got my money out of it a long time ago...Thanks anyway, Stu.
