Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ.

Yes, I understand you.

John, I'd read that theory of yours on ground loops and I'm not electrically sophisticated enough to make a judgement. What I'm referring to as RFI I've been guided to understand is the HF grunge that sound like tizziness when pronounced, but at it's lowest levels masquerades as musical info (until you remove it and get a revelation).

My only experience with ground loops is what got me to this AA forum to begin with: a classic 60Hz hum in an old receiver. Ended up having to replace it after many tweaks that merely lowered the volume of the hum. When I stated that ground loops can be audible in some instances I was being very careful not to state that it was always so.

My point to kingdaddy was that many audio "noise" sources aren't always perceived as "problems", that is, they reach the audible recognition threshold of the listener in an unpleasant way. But that does not negate their negative impact on the listening experience and that there are tweaks taht individually or cumulatively can remove them and improve the sound. You just don't often know it's there!

Your essential point actually agrees with my essential point.
