Do you get the hiss after taking the buffers out of the circuit? Are you using BUF634s? I had similar trouble with this configuration in my Sony SCD-1; the problem was resolved by putting polar 470uf/16V bypass caps at the +/-V pins. Also, check for DC at the secondaries with and without the buffers. If there is any, then ground the secondaries with 10K resistors and recheck.Finally, are you using XLR or RCA outputs? This problem could arise particularly with the (-) buffer output connected to ground in an RCA configuration.
