Seriously suggest you try the Ladder Attenuators, it IS a whole different league in sound.. but at the risk of offending:-) even low quality resistors in the Ladder easily outperforms any Pot. Remember there is only ONE resistor to stuff yer sounds thru. Don't let the aleged requirement to buy Vishay/dales put this out of reach, Medium quality resistors at a few cent each will surprise.
Sure 'better' resistors can sound better but it's really hard to tell when there is only one in the circuit :-)
