Personally, I've become convinced that as long as you are going to continue to use unbalanced interconnects it's a waste of time to mess around with anything other than run of the mill cable and plugs. From here out item by item and new component I buy has to have balanced (XLR) interconnects. I'm persuaded to no amount exotic materials or design refinements can overcome the inherent technical superiority of ordinary balanced wiring done correctly.
