For your time and trouble to share this with us. It sure looks like a good idea altough only applicable I guess with very thin cabling.

Well yeah, but the way I look at it, the cabling doesn't need to be any thicker. :)


I'm always wondering how these kind of techniques compare to soldering. Since you mention DIY, why not just solder the cables directly to the equipment.

Sure you could do that. But then DIY doesn't necessarily stand for "Draconian Inconvenience? Yes!" :)

But yeah, if you had a system you planned to lock in for a fair amount of time without moving it or modifying it, you could do that.


Btw, I recently used the above connector as the ultimate speaker binding post.

Tin the wire ends and make it so that wiring from both sides are going under both screws. If you are tighten the screw really well, both ends of the wire have direct high pressure contact and I'm sure the result is comparable with your connector since there is no different material between both sides.

Coolness! That's a nice looking connector. What's it made of? Looks rather like ceramic.
