First of all, most listeners have their systems set up all wrong, so if your tweeters are beaming right at your ears they sound shrill and ugly. By reversing the polarity you have the driver moving inward not outward which makes the sound limp and less focused. So if your set up is all wrong, then reversing the tweeter polarity will make it sound "better" even though it is a horrible band aid approach to correcting the sound you are hearing.
I use a Stereophile CD of Sam Tellig and a dog barking. With polarity correct the dog is right between your speakers in sharp focus. With the speakers out of phase the dog is smeared from one wall to the next. NO PERCEPTABLE DOG IMAGE.
Please read a few threads above about system set up protocols. Do the set up with the speakers in the original phasing. Then see if the set up does not correct your sound.
If it sounds better, you can still reverse the tweeter polarity to see if the sound is focused or smeared. Its like coffee, some like it black and others like it with cream and sugar. Pick your poison. But make sure the speakers are set up properly to begin with before making phase changes.
And that is all I have to say about water mocassins and phase polarity....
Cheers.
