Tweak for Biwire - reversing phase for the Highs ?

Hi ,

My speakers are Bi-Wired.
Recently an idea stuck me to try swapping the + and - of ONLY the wire going to the Highs Binding-Post of my speakers (both speakers).
In other words the Highs and Lows of each speaker would be 180 degrees out-of-phase.
I did try it and was much surprised by the resulting sound.... i liked it at once. It was more listenable and better. Strangely it seems more cohesive despite the out-of-phase of highs and lows. There was better layering/seperation of various instruments and voices ; an overall sense of increased clarity. Bass lines came across with more distinct (i think the perceived punch/depth i hear are more a byproduct of the better distinction) . It was really nice. :-)

Anyone tried this ?
Or perhaps you could try and see if it works the same for you.
Anyone can reason this out ?

(By the way if you do try this , make sure you DO NOT have those Shorting-Plates at your Speaker Binding-Posts, otherwise you end up shorting out your amplifier).

I will continue to listen in this way for some time , and then revert back and see if i change my mind....

Cheers ,
Steve
