Yes, I am sure the leads need to be as thick as they are in order to provide structural support for such large (and heavy) capacitors.
However, the issue that I was thinking about was whether, as a result, these thick leads degraded the signal passing through them?
If they do then what's the point of using thin wire elsewhere in your system ... the signal is already stuffed by the coupling capacitor leads?
Or is this degradation length-dependant ... so 2" doesn't do any harm but a 2' IC made of the same guage wire, will?
