Hi There,Thanks for the info, just what I needed! I just have a few more questions perhaps you can help me with:
1. I will start with the larger bass traps, around 400mm diameter roughly 1" thickness as you suggest. But, should I use the fiberglass pipes or the rockwool pipes, ie. what density should I aim for? The fiberglass pipes are aroung 80kg/m3 and the rockwool pipes around 160-180kg/m3.
2. Should I get the ones which are plain (uncovered), or those covered? If the latter, should I use the covering of canvas, foil or polyisobutylene (the choices according to the sites)?
3. I am also trying to make absorbers for echoes in the room as it is quite lively. Can I add something to the bass traps which will make them act as absorbers, to reduce echoes? Does polyester batting around the pipe do this? I believe then it would simply be the pipe, covered with batting, then covered with burlap/speaker grill cloth for aesthetics, correct?Have you also built any form of panels or similar treatment for higher frequency absorption, to deaden the room more and reduce echoes? I have looked at a number of the DIY panel designs but a lot of the materials are not available here. Will it be effective to use a design such as this:
____burlap covering_______
|| 5-6" fiberglass ||
||_______compressed_________||
||______1-2" rockwool_______||
|________drywall frame_______|If this design looks okay, are there any preferred densities to use for the rockwool layer and the fiberglass layer?
Thanks for the help,
X
