Polarization is not important in most situations. However, if you get the system set up, and you get hum, you will need to reverse each piece of equipment one at a time, to discover which one is causing it. First, try unplugging everything but the preamp, turntable or cd player and amp, then work your way from there.I would suggest, btw, that you either install modern grounding power cords on the equipment, or, use isolation transformers for safety.
