Polarization is not important in most situations. However, if you get the system set up, and you get hum, you will need to reverse each piece of equipment one at a time, to discover which one is causing it. First, try unplugging everything but the preamp, turntable or cd player and amp, then work your way from there.

I would suggest, btw, that you either install modern grounding power cords on the equipment, or, use isolation transformers for safety.
