Before I had a fully balanced system I used ferrite quite a bit; I found it to greatly reduce RFI, especially with phono. Since that time I've also done A/B test with and without ferrite, and like you never heard a difference. Before anyone asks, I have small and large RS ferrite, AQ ferrite clamps, and industrial ferrite chokes of varied sizes...and yes, the wire was wrapped around the chokes during auditioning.
