I'm going to be controversial >:)It's impossible for the new Thiels to be phase coherent. Phase coherence requires drivers that are non-resonant. Any resonance wrecks the phase of a speaker in the area of resonance. I don't care how good they are, the metal diaphragms of the Thiels are going to resonate. The frequency range where they resonate is not going to be phase coherent. With 1st order crossovers, this resonance is almost certainly audible too because the power getting to the driver isn't going to be down very much at resonance. Also, resonance is also triggered by high excursion. The 1st order high-pass filter is going to cause any driver to have LOTS of excursion. You need at least 2nd order high pass to just to keep excursion constant as frequency decreases.
