Indeed.
Yes, anti-commercialism was part of the '60s counterculture movement.
It appears that, over time, reality set in and the Grateful Dead's stance on commercialism evolved.
I still remember the first time I heard The Stooges music used in a TV commercial. It was around the late 90s or early 2000s when I heard "I Wanna Be Your Dog" on a Mercedes-Benz commercial. I remember first being shocked and amazed and only later did the words sell out enter my mind.
Regardless, these thoughts never enter my mind when listening to either groups music.
