HDTT has released my John Marks Records Nathaniel Rosen JS Bach solo cello suites in the first-ever higher-than-CD Quality version.
The original in-machine, at-session tapes were NAGRA D digital reel-to-reel tapes. Those tapes were 44.1kHz, 20 bit. Those session tapes spun onto a computer Digital Audio Workstation, and edited and mastered. The final edited, mastered files were then archived to NAGRA D digital reel-to-reel tapes in 20 bit. PMCD CDRs were the delivery vehicle for the 16-bit files to the CD plant, for glass mastering.
So, here's a case where HDTT DID have access to the original edited mastered 2-channel master tapes.
HDTT's release is 24 bits, for better compatibility with modern DAC chips.
Any questions?
