I find it alarming that burn software alone, with all surrounding variables exactly the same (including disc media an burn speed), sound ghastly different. (Easily pass a DBT with a non-trained listener.) Yet nobody has even touched on the issue on why this is the case. In fact, most burn software is judged merely on features, speed, and OS/hardware compatibility. (One should listen to a side-by-side comparison of Nero 7 vs. DART 4. The difference is disgusting, with the DART sounding far better.)It's safe to say that hardly anybody has a definitive grip on how to generate a consistently good digital recording, aside from finding out what works as an end user.
