yesterday alone, i tried 3 different players and although they differs, the overall tone was quite similar. pioneer dv370, quad 99 CDP and thule spirit cd100.
end yes, for the money, i found thule spirit 100 really excellent. it might not have a wild resolution of quad CDP but honestly it doesn't lack any important music information. on the other hand, i had an impression it had more airy (or tubey) mids and a decent bass detail and control. certainly an overlooked machine - a friend bought a mint one for 350E. with such a bargain, not sure if quad would make any sense in my system.
kuma, going back to cables - what are the usual choice for ATC users when they want to make their sounds more "polite", less "brutal", while retaining energy and realism?
