that the superb Reference Recordings CDs are largely due to superior engineering and mastering rather than the HDCD process. The evidence? They sound at least as good if not better on a variety of non-HDCD players than they did on my former HDCD-capable reference (Cary 306/200). And of course, they sound fantastic on my C-5xe, right Charles? :-)
