I also have the CD23 and know as you do that HDCDs sound very good on it. I haven't pursued this yet, but have considered at some point adding a DAC superior to the ring DAC, but that really isn't that easy to find at a reasonable cost. Use the CD23 for HDCD and the CD23 as a transport for the new DAC for the rest. It's an option. And when you find the better DAC, let me know.
