Whether what you "upgrade" (does that mean more $$$ or different
design or both?) to may or may not sound better but it will very likely
sound different.
I've bought mostly modestly priced cables used at prices I'm comfortable
with and resold them at the same price I paid for them. Essentially renting
them. Done this with various system configurations over the years to greater
and lesser satisfaction.
Found this to be a fun, interesting and stress free way to explore different types
of cables.
Last speaker cable I bought was about two years ago and I'm STILL happy with them.
