I recently purchased new stands for my 1.6's from Grant VanderMye. I opted for the version without the clamps. This requires that you drill a small pilot hole in the back of the Maggie's frame and attach the struts with a screw. This gives a look similar to the Mye stands for the 3.6. I haven't seen anyone review this option, so I thought that I would share my impressions.
Installation was simple. Grant even included a drill bit for the pilot holes. That was a nice touch. I have a worktable where I could lay the panels down flat while I attached the stands and struts. The whole procedure was a one-man operation that took less than 10 minutes per panel.
As for the sound, I have noticed all of the improvements that others have described. There is better articulation throughout the frequency range which is especially noticeable in the bass. I also think that the maggies are more dynamic with the Mye stands. Percussion is more percussive. These improvements are not subtle at all. Great looks and great sound, what more can you ask? I give it five stars.
